Matheson Beaumont has been ‘making’ photographs for over 60 years. He’s considered to be one of New Zealand’s foremost landscape photographers and is known as a ‘quiet legend’. Beaumont has a long and distinguished career: his photographs are held in public collections in the US, UK, Brazil, Singapore and China as well as New Zealand and Australia, and in private collections all over the world. His work has been published internationally and exhibited widely.
He’s an Hon. Fellow of the Photographic Society of New Zealand, a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain and of the Photographic Society of America, and has been awarded the prestigious Fenton Medal along with many other awards and commemorations. Recently Beaumont received the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to photography.
